5 Common Reasons Why People Cheat
5 Common Reasons Why People Cheat
Whether you’re the one being cheated on, or the one doing the cheating, you will always want to know why. Although it's fairly easy to hate a cheater and move on, there are real explanations for this to happen. I’m here to give you 5 reasons why people cheat on their partners.
Opportunity
It's pretty simple if you think about it. Someone has proposed an opportunity, and they take it. Which is good news for those of you who think your partner intended on hurting you. With opportunity, things just happen. This was found to be the main reason people cheat, by a psychotherapist with over 35 years of experience, Isadora Alman, M.F.T. Perhaps the person wasn't actually looking to cheat. Personally, I believe, if someone truly loves you, it outweighs the opportunity.
They want to breakup
Breaking up with someone can be very hard. And for those who can’t seem to do it, there is one way to grantee a breakup. Cheating. While they are trying to protect you from getting hurt by breaking up with you, they are still hurting you from cheating. Most of us would rather be broken up with, am I right?
Lack of attention
Cheating isn't always about hurting the other person. It may be a last resort to get their attention. Although it may be a wake-up call, it is not always the best idea. If you find yourself in this situation, try communicating with your partner, cheating is never the answer.
“According to their numbers, 63 percent of females said cheating made them feel more alive; 39 percent said it helped them regain their confidence . . . 43 percent of female cheaters had an affair to have the feeling of butterflies again.” (The Complicated Reasons Why Some People Cheat)
Lack of emotional connection
Feeling unwanted or not cared for can lead someone to cheat. By cheating, they fill that void and feel worthy again. Even though they are feeling cared for by someone that is not their partner, it still satisfies them. Things like this may not always be your fault, but maybe a lack of emotional connection on their side from other things like fear of commitment. The person is wanting an emotional connection with someone, and may not be getting that in your relationship.
“lack of love is a powerful motivation — it’s definitely one of the stronger ones.” (Selterman, TodayShow)
This is why it is necessary to always check on your significant others, even if everything seems fine to you. All your partner needs is love, support, and understanding.
Fear of commitment
Once in a while, affairs happen now and again when you may expect individuals would be the most confident in their relationship, for example, subsequent to getting ready for marriage or when somebody is pregnant. Stresses over duty can be very disrupting. At times, individuals can undermine what they have, deliberately or unwittingly in order to ignore their emotions. Fear of commitment can come from parents, family members, or past relationships. For the cheater, having two lovers can help them avoid the fear of commitment they face.
There are numerous reasons you may have wound up reading this post. However, recall, there is constantly a response for a cheater other than them "simply being a terrible individual." I trust you found the data you required or discovered data you didn't know before! Continuously keep in contact with your partner and prevent these things from occurring.
Best wishes,
Kayla
